Tech / Re: AAN 034 Coil conversion kit
September 17, 2010, 10:36:33 pm
i've had the HO kit for a little over a year, car runs much better with these coils but I had 2 weak oem coils.  this past july one of my 034 HO coils failed, coil at cylinder 1.  034 was fast to ship me another coil for $70, never yet have I seen a warranty refund for the replacement coil I bought.
also found recently that if you wrap the too long plug wires under the coil cover they arch on each other which can cause misfire and harm to the coils, I think this may be how my coil failed.  I can see white markings on the plug wires where they had arched

otherwise they work great

3 of my SSR comps are curb rashed and 2 have very slight bends in outer lip.  basically there are no vibrations but they look ugly

would prefer to save as much money as I can and get them fixed in MI instead of shipping out to RimPro.

MI options/recommendations or conections?

still available?  do they balance out?

General Audi Discussion / Re: looking to buy 2000 s4
November 16, 2009, 04:37:03 pm
i see some S4s with real high miles, so i assume the engines are good for long time. aside from turbos are the B5 S4s good, i mean reliable?  my friend had 20,000 trouble free miles on his k04'd s4 then he rolled it.  keeps telling me i need oe and everytime i drive his im addicted.

people say they are real expensive to own and not to buy one, thesse are particicularly URS owners.
i want either a stage 3 B5 S4 or stage 3 B6 A4 1.8
thanks for help

if your looking for a sedan, i'd suggest a stage 3 built sedan. all the expensive stuff is done and the built cars dont cost much more than stock cars.  yes i think more reliable

how old and how does it sound?  I have a harmon karden avr 45 reciever hooked up to some big polk audios and does not sound so good, I do not think it has the power to push the polks, maybe there are more suited to my reviever you think?  its 5.1 with 65watts/channel in stereo and 55 watts/channel in surround

i've been on summer tires for almost 3 weeks, blew out one of my snow tires on a pot hole so had no choice, got stuck last week on flat ground in 6 inches of snow for 2 days, just spins the tires.  but since then all has been just fine, i think its safe now
Tech / Re: '93 S4 acceleration problem(stumble?)
January 12, 2009, 05:49:38 pm
if it stumbles at idle as well, your looking at a POS problem, like Jason said you can easily swap the channels or just even the 2 POS with each other.  If hesitation is only under acceleration, you have either a weak coil or a boost leak.
however you should check the plugs and the torque of them, check the plug connectors.

these are all pretty easy for you to diagnose and fix yourself with minimal tools in your garage.  the FAQ list on the audiworld forum is great, and you know we will help you with any questions you have in the process.

Does it still hesitate if you accelerate slowly? or ease into boost?  what are your boost numbers looking like?

throttle position sensor is the last thing your gonna replace most likely but you can clean it up if its gunky
