Droid Torque App
« on: May 01, 2011, 12:24:16 AM »
I was introduced to the Torque App for the Droid (and soon Blackberry) market today.  In a nutshell, it is an OBD2 reader for your phone!  Plugged it into the A4 today, not only did it read my engine code fault but I was able to reset the light....eat your heart out VAG COM  :)  It also uses the OBD link to give you a real time 'dashboard' of whatever you want displayed (boost, speed, coolant temp, fuel pressure, engine load, and on and on ).

The free version of the app does most things, the paid version is only $5.  A bluetooth OBD2 adapter (oh ya, its wireless baby) can be had for as little as $20 or so I've heard.  The adapter I tried today was a really nice one that cost ~$100.

In 5-8 days I should have the adapter.  We'll do some logging in the Fusion  :)

I got the ELM327 OBD2 OBDII V1.4 Bluetooth Diagnostic Interface from eBay. It's out of China and probably cheap, but I figure for $20 it's worth a shot.

Got mine last night, got it paired but not connected.  I'll be fiddling with it more after work.

Nice, let me know if you have any problems or find anything that's really cool.

The linkup is sorta tricky.  Sometimes it works on the first try, other times you have to keep fussing with it.  I drove the Audi today so I'm going to do a log on the way home  :)

Can others report which interfaces work, which not?

The PLX adapter is great but you're paying for it at over $100.  I haven't had any issues with mine so far (XiTech)
