K2 / ProFlex Mountain Bike
« on: January 03, 2011, 06:51:50 PM »

I built up this bike several years ago and have decided to sell.  It is essentially a brand new unridden bike.  Cool active suspension that actually works!  $575.

I love the front suspension on this bike.  If I rode the trek more I might need a new bike.  I hope you had a good Christmas.

Same to you!   Phil from AE was just up at my shop doing a PPI on my 85 urq tonight.

Anyway, the suspension is pretty bizarre.  It has a couple of electronic sensors that read the trail surface and then adjust the valve on the shocks (1000s of times per second).  There are various electronic settings you can make.  They run on 9V batteries.  Anyway, you can actually feel the thing working with the butt dyno!

The car checked out well.

As an engineer, I really like the design of this fork.  It's never made sense to me to have a shock on each blade of the fork because it induces a twisting motion of the axle (and wheel).  Makes a lot more sense to have rigid fork blades connected together and have the entire assembly move together.  But what do I know?  It obviously never caught on.
