93/104-93/110 MIX?
« on: September 09, 2010, 01:42:25 AM »
I kinda figure a good 1/2 93- 1/2 104 is fine on a 93 tune. but what about 93/110 mix? TIA

My question is why?  If you've got some custom setup, then it may be worth it if you tweak your tune.  If you're running a commercial 93 chip, the adaptation from the chip isn't going to get you _that_ much more with the extra octane.
I think its a waste of $$$ unless you've got the software.

It was more just a thought. I run 93/104 every once in a while. I have jus  abasic MTM 93 ECU. I was more looking into any damage it could do the to the motor, or jus bogg the car down. Thanks

Not worth it if you dont have a tune.

104 isn't good for your car.  If it contains lead you can kiss your cats goodbye.  If its unleaded kind then the additives to make it work like leaded gas will destroy your spark plugs over time and possibly coat your combustion area in a carbon like stuff (I forget the true name and I'm too lazy to look it up right now).  Basically, if you don't run your engine hot it won't burn all the stuff I'm too lazy to look up off.

Thank you! good heads up. Im not sure what u mean by run it hot, do u jus mean beating on it all the time? because I really tend not to get into it unless someone asks for it.

Higher engine temps usually associated with extreme tuning and/or pushing the engine to higher operating temps.  Remember, higher octane means it resists combustion more than lower octane hence using it on a high compression or purposely tuned engine.

Thanks Castle. I have decided against even debating on 110 as it will likely make the motor run very LEAN aswell without a tune. so someday 100-104 tune. Thanks fellas
