A4 Lower Moldings-Painting
« on: July 29, 2010, 11:45:19 PM »
I want to paint my lowers on my A4 but I was told that the primer and paint will not adhere very well to the rubber like comound that there made of. Now I'd like to get a S4 kit but don't want to pay the full price of a new set.

The question I have is do they make a A4 set that is made of a harder plastic that does not bend or flex so that the paint will hold better? Or has any just gone ahead and painted the OEM ones and are you pleased with what you have?

The only folks I know who ended up happy took their car to a real paint shop and paid the $$$ to have it done right.
Probably not what you wanted to hear, but automotive paint costs more for a reason :(

they make automotive primers with flex agents in it, that is how they make paint stick and stay on plastic bumpers.

call Steve, he'll get you a good price on doing it.

Thanks Jeff and John for the feedback.

After thinking about it I do have a A4 and not an S4 so with that being said I'm staying with the black lowers. I'll get some new ones though but in the end I guess I didn't want to be a poser.... ;D
