Car storage
« on: June 06, 2010, 07:24:57 PM »
So as many of you know I'm leaving for Germany at the end of August -- and I'm looking at all my options for a place to store the Audi.

Based on a cursory glance online, I'm looking at about $50 for an outdoor space and about $100 for an indoor space.  Think I can do any better?

Do you have any suggestions/leads/people I should talk too?

Yeah, family isn't an option since step parents on each side would never allow it. :(

Francois, that is the best rate I've heard thus far so its on the top of the list.
I'll let you know in a few weeks when its time to pull the trigger on something.

I'll keep it for $45 a month.  It will be outside and may have a few extra miles on it.

Most of the "U-STOR-IT" type storage places have a chunk of their spaces dedicated for cars.  Of course different places have different types/amounts but generally those are the businesses I've been contacting.

They have indoor car storage or is it a covered lot?

I think any kind of self storage place will allow you to store a car in your own individual storage unit as long as you can prove that you have insurance on it. Some are heated, some are not, but in most cases I think you can have your own storage unit.
An escalator cannot be broken, it can just become stairs.

$50 sounds expensive for outside storage.  I'm storing my boat and trailer combo (~40' space) for $40/month at Box n Locks in Trenton.  But if you can get indoor storage, that'd be the way to go.
