"I took a closer look at the settlement agreement.
The only benefit available to Audi owners is the possible reimbursement of any expenses for repair of damage caused by blockage of the sunroof and/or plenum drains and repair of those components. There is no modification to the cars that will be performed by Audi. They now require additional inspections though a change of the maintenance schedule, but that doesn't mean that Audi will pay for it.
Therefore, unless one has a claim for reimbursement, they should definitely opt-out of the class so as to not lose any potential rights that they might have including to later claim for undiscovered and future damage.
To opt-out, send a postcard (28 cents postage) postmarked no later than 15 June 2010 to:
Water Ingress Administrator
P.O. Box 2298
Faribault, MN 55021-2433
Here is an example of what the postcard should say:
>>>
Gentlemen,
I wish to be excluded from the class. My vehicles are:
2000 Audi S4 VIN WAUDD68D5YA000001
2002 Audi allroad VIN WAUED24B5YN000001
Sincerely,
/s/

I don't think I could make this any easier than this.
Incidentally, the agreement provides that if more than 5% of owners exclude themselves then VW/Audi can withdraw from the deal. VW/Audi's settlement money is meant to buy it a release from all liabilities due to their design defect. If they don't get that, then no point in paying up. :-) "
