Fluid?
« on: January 17, 2010, 05:26:24 PM »
I checked under the hood earlier today and noticed that some fluid was way below "MIN". Check out the below pic and let me know. Not sure what it's for. I'm assuming i need to fill it up ASAP. I know the picture is a engine bay of a VW 2.0T, mine is a 1.8T and I'm guesstimating that the fluid is the same for both.

And refill it with the correct fluid!  You can find it at S&G.  The fluid should be green.

That's what I thought it was. I was just too lazy to check the manual. Hopefully S&G will be open tomorrow even though it's MLKJ day.

Mine was low when it was checked, for the first time in a long time I'm guessing, at 130,000.  Filled it then and its barely come down and I'm at 196,000 now.

Probably just very slow leaks/evap over time.  Do keep an eye on it tho -- thats an expensive system to work on :(

Ask JM, or myself about the worst time possible for a power steering failure.  Always a fun time.

Jeff is referring to history a little beyond that incident.
