I kind of want to see how it would handle an over rev situation if you try to downshift to the wrong gear....

I think you should test drive one with the salesman and try that scenario out!  :)

I wouldn't go that far.  Because technically there are no driver aids in Nascar, and they're still using manual tranmissions.

hummm...... silence....chirp, chirp....damn....you are right. Fvck that hurts.....but you are right...

Except it was on a Cobalt first, and that setup also manages boost not just revs.

"The SS has a feature called "no-lift shift," which means you can shift the five-speed manual gearbox without backing off on the gas pedal. You simply keep your right foot to the floor and bang off the shifts. A computer controls the revs when you hit the clutch.

All of the punch comes courtesy of the SS's 2-liter four-cylinder engine. Enhanced by a turbocharger, it pumps out 260 horsepower. Almost as importantly, it delivers 260 pounds-feet of torque, or twisting force, starting at just 2,000 revolutions per minute."

The Cobalt system won't blip the throttle and match revs when you downshift, but it does have the no lift feature, yes.

I'm actually surprised Nissan is the first to do this since it's so easy (in the way the Audi R10 engine is simple) now with electronic throttles.
