GMW
« on: May 14, 2008, 07:47:07 AM »
I know this happens frequently in this forum but I feel compelled to post.  Stefan at German Motor Werks knows his sh-t and is honest.  I took my 96 A6 to him to look it over as the sun roof did not seal, there was an oil leak and a knocking noise in the steering. He cleaned the track and motor of the sun roof (advised at some point the switch needed to be replaced but it was fine for now), discovered there was a loose bolt causing the knocking, tightened that.  As far as the oil leak, since I didn't have the 1500 to sink into the head gasket job he said simply to watch the oil level and advised me on a couple other things that if they began happening, to bring it in.  All he charged me was his standard diagnostic fee.

As it may become evident in this post, I do not know squat about cars. It is nice to know there is and honest person out there who knows these cars like the back of his hand.  WELL worth the drive out there if you do not happen to live in BFE.

Not sure what your symptoms are, but there is a DIY fix on the moonroof switch on Audiworld.

And yes, Stefan is the best guy in town to work on German cars.  I wouldn't go anywhere else.  I was just up there last weekend for a brake job.  He simply knows his sh!t, appreciates the business, and cares about his customers.  Tough to find that combination these days.

waiting on cash to take the avant in......water pump went 3weeks ago, which was about 3 weeks after i got the radiator replace!!! argh...timing belt is do and since i was hoping to have the valve's resealed soon too, the car is now, sadly, parked until funds are available.  so sad.  but yeah, Stefan is the bomb for german!!!

in the meantime, i picked up a 91 4Runner SE-V6 for Kelly to drive.  :-)  no audi wagon, but couldn't pass up the deal...plus, it's a Toyota!!!  *my first one, actually*   so good so far
