No long story.
I'm looking for a Tip car right now as I'm having surgery in a week that will leave me unable to drive my 6 speed TT for quite a while so I thought I would do a little fishing.
I sent him an email briefly explaining my situation and asked if he would be interested in working out some sort of trade for my TT. My intent was to open up some dialog about our cars (including his VIN!) as well as some negotiation if we were both interested.
Here is his brief complete & unabridged patronizing reply. I thought it was quite dickheadisch. Maybe I'm wrong; lemme know if you agree?
"Sorry to hear that. However, this is not a 200hp A6 it is a 340hp S6. I am about $9000 under private party value at $18,000. It would take your car and about $7000 cash to even consider a trade. Still interested?"
First off, the car ain't all that; it blues at $22K and some change private party value and I'm guessing it was totaled and that's why the new paint job and the quick sell attempt. If it is worth so much, why isn't he asking $27,000 for it? And thanks for offering me $11,000 for my car, and blues at $18,500 private party without even asking any questions.
I'm thinking a simple no thanks, not interested would have sufficed.
