audi a6 front plastic skid pan under motor
« on: December 25, 2006, 10:28:25 AM »
Hi,

Do the screws/retainers that hold the plastic pan under the motor unscrew completely or are they the kind that qtr turn to unlock?

Also where would you suggest to get a new plastic pan other than the dealer.

Thanks

Jeff

Hi - thanks for the replies.  It is a 2005 a6.

Do you recall what the pan cost you bought from Steve's?

THanks.

Jeff

Shawn,

Are there any issues with leaving it off?

I see the inner fender well connects to it.

Thanks.

Jeff

mines been off for a while and besides the big snowfall when I froze my alternator (too much driftin I guess) I've had no problems.  Oil changes are a breeze  :)

keeps the engine clean and also is designed to bring in extra air to help cool the engine, the turbo models also use it to help direct air into the intercoolers.  I would replace it, it's there for a reason, but you should be fine without it, is your A6 turbo?

Thanks for all the replys....mine is a non-turbo....but I agree it keeps the engine clean and faciliates cooling.  I will order a new one.

Take care,

Jeff

No issues you would notice other than the ones already mentioned (dirt and grime) My 200 did not come with this but the S6 did.. They have the same motor, inter cooler etc...
