Quick-Reply and collapsible "sections"
« on: November 19, 2006, 05:08:22 PM »
Quick-reply
This is one feature of our old home that was well liked and I didn't see on many other BB systems.  For those of you who have just registered, its still here!  One just has to manually turn it on in their profile.
Go to
  • Profile
  • Look and layout preferences (left side nav bar)
  • "Use quick reply on topic display:" (second from the bottom, main panel)
And select which option you'd like.  Which brings us to the next item....

Sections that you can "open" and "close".

Many parts of the website have little "plus" or "minus" icons at the top [of the part].  The first one I found was the icon on the right of the date and time in the upper right.  As you'll see, clicking this expands or closes the "welcome" header, and it will stay that way.  So for those of you who like those options, leave it open!  If you [like me] know what you want to do and don't use it, close it.  Just one less scroll to get to what you want.  You'll also find those on the forum categories, so if there is a category you never read, just close it -- keep in mind closing sections doesn't actually delete anything or remove your access.  If you ever want it back just click the plus.
How does this relate to the quick-reply?
The options are, "Don't show", "show, on", "show, off".
If you have it set to 'show on' quick reply will always appear and you can 'minus' the section.
If you have it set to 'show off' the quick reply "heading" will appear at the bottom, but every time you want it, you'll have to click the 'plus' at the heading to get the actual text box to appear.
