The tranny has been serviced for synchros 'bout 5-months ago. I have began to notice this slight difficulty after the tranny had been serviced. It takes some effort to get into gears when, especially, the car is cold. I never had such difficulty before... Do you think this is happening because the car is getting ......old.......??? The car is "02" Thanks for your help!

Happens to all manual cars during the winter - the Gearbox oil is too thick and needs to warm up so the gears can engage smoothly.

So you always have slight difficulty engaging the gears?  But especially difficult when cold?  Usually it's stiffer in the cold, but then should be quite easy once the trans has warmed up.  Maybe the clutch isn't disengaging properly?  Have soemone else (like Sammy) test it. :) Coming by on Saturday at K2K?

If it's only when cold, then I wouldn't worry about it.  BTW, it hasn't been THAT cold yet...

It happens moslty when it is cold out and/or at start, but on few occasions I did experience the difficulty when the tranny was warm and during summer. I guess I will wait and see... Hopefully nothing..

Yes, I am planning to come... but I have to see how Saturday X-mas shopping goes...

I was going to post something similar...

my car can get into all gears fine when its cold and hasn't quite warmed up all the way, except 1st gear.

It always happens... Getting ito first is fine when I first drive, but as soon as I get into the first stop sign in my neighborhood, it is reallly stubborn getting back into first.

Is this normal?  It could use a trans. fluid change, so that might help...?

I have the same problem ever since I changed fluid to Redline. K who ever did your trans make sure they put the proper fluid in it. So far the only fluid I would recommend would be the OEm fluid, still looking into alternatives that works as good.
