it wont be once 034 start producing all the hardware you need to do this swap because there will be a lot of people that will do this swap.

someone said the same thing over at aw "Think of an A4 VR-Turbo as the Audi equivalent to a Nissan Skyline GT-R but with a bigger engine and on a serious diet. We all know the JDM fanboys go apeshit over the RB26DETT... well this is an even larger engine and it actually does fit in a B5 chassis with some alteration to the oil sump and valve cover.

A single 2.8L bank of cylinders feeding a single turbocharger (GT35 ~700hp) is simply insane. I've been a proponent of the longitudinal VR turbo for a long time now.

The whole VR-Turbo thing is very well proven as a m means of achieving stupid levels of HP and monster torque. Why this fantastic engine was mounted the wrong way in a bunch of FWD Volkswagens is beyond me. No A platform car needs an engine this large with any sort of forced induction. But a B chassis with quattro, well now we're talking about something of a different magnitude altogether... something worthy of a VR6 turbo... something capable of putting that power to use not just shredding tires up in burnout contests." ~ posted by qfrog Ti20

When you consider what they were up against in the Modified AWD drive class (EVO's, Skylines, STI's) that is very impressive.
I would never have thought that the B5 Chasis could ever outperform that caliber of rivals.

These guys did an awesome job rising to this challenge.

including Tanner Foust in the Crawford Performance Subaru Impreza STi, Tyler McQuarrie in the JIC Magic/Hankook Tires Nissan Silvia S15, SPEED World Challenge pilot Paul Gerrard in the awesome AMS EVO, and fellow World Challenge hot shoe James Sofranos in the big dollar GMG Porsche 911 GT3. Our friend and FWD wildman Christian Rado was also a big part of the show in his turbocharged Scion tC, as was recent Grand Am Cup/Koni Challenge ST class winner Billy Johnson in the Factor X Acura NSX.

VR6.  There's no way you'd get that system to pipe around from a distant bank into that monster.
