Sway Bar Questions
« on: August 14, 2007, 10:38:56 PM »
I just bought a set of Bilstein shocks with H&R lowering spings, hoping to put them on this week sometime.  I'm looking at upgrading the 18mm (sport) sway bar on my B6 1.8QMT.  Trying to decide between the 20 mm S4 and 22 mm RS4, any suggestions.  I know that a stiffer rear bar is supposed to help improve the amount of understeer but how much better will it get?  Words of advice are appreciated.  Thanks

Joe

if i were you i would see if h-sport makes adjustable rear sway bar. i bought the front and rear sway bars from h-sport (actually bought them from purems) also bought the metal rear sway bar links and i love how they work on my b5 a4. i havent adjusted the rear sway bar to the other setting to see if there is a big difference the 2 settings but i'm sure its noticable.

adjustable sway bars are awesome but do some searching online and see what other have to say about their setups.

Honestly, I would wait. After you put the bilsteins and h&r u might be pleasantly surprised by the handlling.  I have the same setup, so if you want a ride before you put it in, to decide if u want a sway bar, give me a shout.
I'm stocky.

If I were you I'd wait on the sway bars.

After going from stock sport to H&R/Bilstiens I found it was much easier to get the rear to step out and understeer was reduced (but still there).  Considering that we see snow in MI I decided to stick with the stock sway bar.

Thanks for the advice guys, looks like I'll be waiting till I get the Bilstein/H&R set up in before going forward.
