Brake Squeal
« on: December 17, 2006, 09:49:59 AM »
I changed my rear brake pads and rotors ~4000 miles ago, fronts were done right before I bought the car.  Under light braking conditions, say coming to a stop at less than 10 mph I have a lot of brake squeal.  If I press just a little harder though it goes away?  Any ideas?  Thanks.

I would try a couple hard brake cycles then a few light ones, then drive the car a little more to let it all cool.
Otherwise I know they make some goo you can use a la pad/caliper.

some brakes have noise absorption pads on them, for those that don't they make squeal stop (goo as JM calls it) that seems to work pretty well.

Thanks guys, I'll try some hard stops and if that doesn't work look for some goo.

I forgot to put the "goo" on last time, and my brakes squealed like crazy too.  Nothing to worry about performance wise though.
