um what happend to the rest of my post?

I’m making my deposit my RPM’s drop to 500 then drop again so I put my foot on the gas and brought it back over 1000 well unless my foot was on the gas it would drop way down low and then pull back up and drop again. By the time I got back out by the mall about 8 min of driving I didn’t notice it as much and when I came to a stop light my RPM’s held just a little under 1000. While driving home in I think it was bear lake I noticed the problem again but I never had to stop it just felt a little odd around 25 MPH but when I get back up to 65 it was fine. Now I am home and the car seems to be okay the RPM’s are staying around 800-1000

Any ideas of what my problem might be?

I bought gas at wesco on my way up could that be my problem? Or do you think it might be something else? I also had new plugs put on about 5-6 months ago.

okay thanks

you might have one of the wonderful sensors going.  I have the same problem with my truck, and am waiting to get the new heads on before I tear apart the electrical.  Also the plugs might be fouled, as I also have to replace those too!

ah the fun of Audi ownership.  FYI, I'm with Eric.  Some vital part of your car is starting to fail.  My thoughts would be to check for stored codes and if it happens again, don't turn off your car...drive it to the nearest VAG (ie dealer or GMW) and have it checked.

If its a 1.8T its more than likely the Ignition Amplifier on its way out.
If it starts to miss inexplicably and then go back to normal then its more than likely the ignition amp.

Depends on the brand, HUCO can be had for about $150, the original Bosch part is more expensive.
When its failing it will actually miss so bad that it will stall so I'd wait and see if it happens again or gets worse.

my car did this for a while....and unfortunately it was the beginning of the end of that car.  Never really figured out what was causing it, but i think the sludge had something to with it......

Could it be a bad BPV on that car.  I5T's will do stuff like that if the BPV is bad ...like if you rev it it will not find the proper idle rpm and in some cases (especially with load like your a/c ) stall the motor.

Check your BPV that is a less than $50 solution...hope it helps

Know how to check the BPV...suck the nipple and feel if it keeps presure (should feel as if it is sucking your tung)...

wow that is almost x rated LOL

Update...

Okay it started running bad again this afternoon for about 15 min I noticed this time my boost wasnt boosting past about 10psi (I am chipped) I had no power with the peddle all the way to the floor.

I am now thinking maybe fuel filter or MAF??

I just put a bottle of HEET in to see if maybe i had some water in the tank since I notice it when I am really low on gas most of the time

have there been any codes, MAF will throw a code yeah?  any chance you might have a coil going bad, does it misfire at all?  you could prolly swap MAFs with someone in GR to test it

It doesnt always do it thats the problem like it will do it for a little while and then it pulls itself back together.

since i put the heet stuff in I have been running fine.

I read an article on Audizine about someone having problems kinda like mine and it was the maf going bad. I have also read that it wont always toss up a code too???

The big Bentley manual should tell you where your grounds are located.

What kind of Audi is it? Mechanics that know the car model should be able to tell you the ground locations & what to look for.
