the b6 and b7 share chassis and powertrain architectures with the b7 being more of a face lift to the b6 than a model update like the b8 is going to be.  I think the new b8 looks good assuming that the picture is an actual one and not an artist rendering which it kind of looks like....

I still like mine better.  The new ones just keep getting bigger, and heavier.

so the b8 will have a new face lift over the b7 with a new chassis? will they keep it around as long as the b5 before change to the b9? or are they going to keep changing every 2 years!? as legato mentioned about the newer a4 models get bigger and heavier will they go with a lighter body in the near future like they use in the a8 models?

I think the B8 will have a 5 year run as did the B5 and the B6/7 Platform.
The B8 is an entirely new car, modular chasis, new electronics (comfort key), 40/60 or thereabouts Quattro.

Change it all the want... It will never be a B5!

B5 > all

(although I'm finally warming up to the B6... who knows how long it will take for me to get used the big unified grill thing they put on the new ones!  :o :D )

:iamwithstupid:  for the most part.  i really like the b6 body, but if i'm gonna go for those kinda curves, i'd rather have an a6 2.7 or 4.2 and have the room!!!   6 speed and 3.0 V6 is awesome, but again....space and twin turbo's......

everybody's rear is starting to look the same....b7 A4, bmw 3, 07 civic, etc

are designer's doing side work??

I think the different body style is serving people with different perspective.  Obviously the b5 is the most agile of them all, while the b6/b7 has taken the comfort and luxury one step further then the b5 did, but by sacrificing size and weight.  With this upcoming B8, I'm sure Audi will find a better balance between performance, and luxury. So my conclusion is,
B5 for performance
B6 for Luxury
B7 is the equilibrium, but still luxury biased
B8 hopefully like b7 but a better performer
I'm stocky.

I don't think so...Audi is going where the money is...and it ain't in rough riding performance cars.....
